Soles & Suds – Terms & Conditions

1. Overview
By booking or purchasing any service from Soles & Suds, you agree to the Terms & Conditions outlined below. These terms exist to ensure transparency, protect both parties, and provide clarity on what to expect during cleaning or restoration work.
“Soles & Suds”, “we”, “us”, and “our” refers to the business Soles & Suds 2.0.
“You” or “the customer” refers to the individual submitting shoes for cleaning or restoration.
2. Cleaning Services – What to Expect
2.1 General Cleaning Limitations
Cleaning services improve appearance but cannot guarantee a 100% factory finish. Results vary based on age, material, and condition of the shoe.
2.2 Material-Specific Risks
While we take every precaution, certain materials may react unpredictably:
Suede/Nubuck: Colour may darken or lighten slightly after cleaning.
Mesh/Canvas: Deep stains may not fully lift.
Leather: Creases, cracks, and age-related wear remain visible even after cleaning.
2.3 Odour & Deep Soiling
Strong odours or heavy soiling may require repeated treatments. We cannot guarantee complete elimination.
2.4 Pre-Existing Damage
We are not responsible for:
Loose stitching
Cracking paint
Aged midsoles
Weak glue bonds
Yellowing
Oxidation
If damage worsens due to age or previous deterioration, Soles & Suds cannot be held liable.
3. Restoration Services – Important Notes (Repaints, Re-Glues, Sole Swaps)
3.1 Condition Assessment
All restoration jobs must be approved through a Restoration Quote Form.
We reserve the right to decline work if shoes are unsafe, too fragile, or unsuitable for restoration.
3.2 Colour Matching & Variations
We aim for the closest possible match, but:
Exact colour matching cannot be guaranteed
Aged or faded areas may react differently
Painted areas may appear slightly different under certain lighting
3.3 Re-Glue Services
A professional two-coat contact cement is used for all re-glues.
However:
Aged midsoles may not bond as strongly as newer materials
Separation may reoccur due to shoe age or wear
Moisture/temperature exposure can reduce longevity
We provide no lifetime guarantee on re-glues for shoes older than 5 years.
3.4 Sole Swaps
For sole swaps:
Customers are responsible for providing a suitable donor pair unless paying for a sourced donor
Donor soles must be free from cracks, rot, and excessive wear
Midsole crumbling or foam decay is a common age-related issue; Soles & Suds is not responsible for failures caused by old foam
3.5 Structural Weakness
If a shoe collapses, cracks, or deteriorates during restoration due to age, oxidation, or previous repairs, Soles & Suds cannot be held liable.
4. Mail-In Services
4.1 Customer Responsibility
Customers must ensure shoes are securely packaged and shipped via a tracked method when sending them to us.
4.2 Return Shipping
All mail-in prices include Royal Mail Special Delivery insured return.
Customers are responsible for covering inbound postage.
4.3 Loss or Damage in Transit
We cannot be held responsible for:
Shoes lost or damaged on the way to Soles & Suds
Delays caused by couriers
We will, however, assist with claims where possible.
5. Turnaround Times
All turnaround times are estimates, not guarantees.
Delays may occur due to:
Weather conditions (affects drying and curing)
Complexity of work
Material behaviour
Seasonal volume
Customers will be updated if delays arise.
6. Payments & Refunds
6.1 Cleaning Services
Cleaning services can be purchased directly through the website.
Payment confirms acceptance of all Terms & Conditions.
6.2 Restoration Services (Quote Required)
Restorations require:
Submission of the quote form
Review and approval
Payment via a draft order checkout link
6.3 Refund Policy
Because all work is labour-based and personalised:
All sales are final
No refunds are issued once work has begun
We do not provide refunds for “change of mind”
If we cannot complete a job for safety reasons once in hand, we will return the shoes and refund any payment.
7. Aftercare & Maintenance
We provide care advice after each restoration, but ongoing maintenance is the customer’s responsibility.
Harsh conditions (rain, mud, heat, chemicals) may reduce the lifespan of restorations.
8. Abandoned Shoes
Shoes not collected or paid for within 60 days after service completion will be considered abandoned and may be disposed of or repurposed.
Multiple reminders will be attempted before this occurs.
9. Limitation of Liability
Soles & Suds is not liable for:
Pre-existing damage
Age-related deterioration
Foam crumbling or sole separation
Dye/colour inconsistencies on vintage or sensitive materials
Damage caused by customer misuse after collection
Loss or damage caused by couriers
Maximum liability is limited to the cost of the service performed.
10. Agreement to Terms
By:
Purchasing any cleaning service, or
Submitting a restoration quote request, or
Using drop-off or mail-in services
you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms & Conditions.
